I traveled to Guatemala to visit an old college roommate who was serving in the Peace Corps. It was quite the experience! I must say, being able to drink tap water without the fear of getting sick is something that I thoroughly enjoyed the moment I got back to San Diego...and of course seeing JM. Here are some pictures from the trip. We got to visit one of the schools that Jessica works at. The children loved to have their pictures taken and stare at us.
We hiked the Pacaya Volcano and got to poke the lava with our sticks. We also got to "ski" down the mountain. At first, I was a little weary of the guide's explanation... because it WAS Guatemala. Who knows what skiing down a mountain could REALLY mean... The second we took off running down the mountain it was a slip and slide (more slide) down the edge.
See if you can point us out. (Hint, I am the one on top)
One of our last days in Guatemala we got to go to a black sanded beach and then celebrate her 24th birthday. Isn't she cute?
Overall, the trip was fantastic. I am so blessed to be able to travel to other countries and spend time with family and friends.
